My first advice is this: don't panic. Anything can make you freak out if you let it. My second advice: if you want to know more, read more about it. The more know (from reputable sources) the more you understand both sides of an issue. Third, take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt. Don't believe every word of everything you hear. Finally, you have two options with the professor - accept what she says for the purposes of the cl and let it go, or do some research and ask her about her data. Note that challenging your prof could result in a bad grade whether you are right or wrong.
